Stinky drains

If you’re among the many homeowners that have an occasional stinky drain, you’re not alone. Although your first instinct may be to use bleach to solve the problem, you should know that there’s a better way.  If you discover that you have a foul odor emanating from one or more of your sinks, start by pouring several large pots of boiling water down the drain. After that, pour about ¼ cup of organic enzyme cleaner into your sink. Let that sit for about an hour, and if needed, repeat the final step. An hour after that, flush your drains with hot water. Not only should this resolve your problem, it’s a lot less harsh than using chemicals and/or bleach.

Glass top ranges

Glass top ranges can be difficult to clean, especially if they’ve been splattered with foods and sauces. One of the fastest, easiest (and greenest) ways to clean your stovetop is with baking soda and vinegar. To start, pour a half bottle of vinegar into a plastic spray bottle. Use this bottle to coat your glass cooktop thoroughly. When you’re done, sprinkle your problem spots with baking soda, and from there, cover those areas with a dish towel that’s been soaked in hot water.  Wait 15 minutes, re-spray the area with vinegar, and wipe your stove clean with a microfiber cloth.

Clean streaked mirrors with vinegar and water

Lastly, if your mirrors are starting to look a bit streaked, fill a plastic water bottle with 2/3 water and 1/3 vinegar. Spray your mirrors down and wipe them clean with a microfiber cloth.
